FAQ

  • Does dry needling hurt?

Most patients experience only a mild sensation when the needle is inserted, like a small “twitch” or “deep ache” in the muscle. While it may feel uncomfortable for a moment, the sensation usually subsides quickly, and many people find that it provides immediate relief.

  • How many sessions will I need?

The number of dry needling sessions varies based on your specific condition and how your body responds to treatment. Some patients feel relief after just one session, while others may require several treatments spaced a few days apart. Your therapist will work with you to develop a personalized plan based on your progress.

  • What should I expect after a dry needling session?

After your session, you may feel some mild soreness or tenderness in the treated areas, similar to the feeling after a good workout. This typically lasts for a day or two. Many patients experience improved movement and pain relief immediately after treatment.

  • Is dry needling safe?

Yes, dry needling is considered a safe, evidence-based treatment when performed by a trained and licensed therapist. It’s important to ensure that your practitioner is properly trained to avoid any risks or complications. Like any treatment, it’s always best to discuss your medical history with your provider before starting.

  • Do you accept insurance?

Unfortunately, most insurance providers do not cover dry needling services. For this reason, we are an out-of-network provider. However, we would be happy to provide you with a super bill upon request, which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

  • How should I prepare for my dry needling appointment?

There’s no special preparation required for dry needling, but we recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the areas being treated. If you’re receiving treatment for muscle pain, be sure to stay hydrated and avoid heavy exercise immediately after your session.
